Fionn Ó Lochlainn

Fionn Ó Lochlainn

Show Description

"A big rock-influenced sound and an equally substantial artistic statement using only traditional, acoustic instruments and keening, crystalline vocals." - Jon Sobel, Blogcritics

"Magic writing, magic playing, magic album."
- Billy Bragg

Anglo–Irish artist Fionn O Lochlainn delivers a vast, guitar driven sound, reminiscent of greats such as Led Zeppelin, early Bowie or Pink Floyd but with a current originality that draws the listener into a world of vibrant songwriting circa 2008.  With multiple instruments including acoustic guitar, piano and mandola, he converges ethereal textures with melodic dreamlike vocals evocative of Beck, Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley.

Fionn moves past the lazy descriptors (‘Brit rock,’ ‘acoustic rock’) that critics sometimes use to paint his work. His songs are haunting and enigmatic, prone to introspection and heavy blues.  Either performing solo or with a full-blown outfit, Fionn flaunts a formidable talent that has received international critical acclaim for both its musical originality and lyrical substance.

Fionn has appeared with renowned historian, author and activist Howard Zinn for the event 'A Message of Peace' in New York City.  Along with his performances in New York and London, Fionn has showcased at major festivals such as CMJ and SXSW.  He also performs regularly at one of New York City’s most atmospheric venues – Joe’s Pub, where he launched the extended edition of his satirically titled debut album ‘Spawn of the Beast.’ The album has been available via iTunes and other major online stores since March ‘08.
